Meet Courtney & Stacey: Your Southern Clean Eating Guides

Hey, y’all! Welcome to The Southern Spoonful – your go-to destination for healthy Southern recipes that never compromise on flavor. We’re Stacey and Courtney, the passionate mother-daughter duo behind this Dallas-based food blog, and we’re thrilled you’re here!

Our Southern Roots Run Deep

Originally from the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, we’ve been immersed in authentic Southern and Cajun cooking our entire lives. Growing up in the heart of Louisiana, we experienced the best of traditional Southern cuisine – from festive crawfish boils to elaborate Mardi Gras celebrations. These cherished food memories, passed down through generations of family recipes, form the foundation of everything we create today.

Life took an unexpected turn when we moved to Saint Louis, Missouri, just six weeks before Hurricane Katrina struck our beloved New Orleans. During our time in Missouri, friends and family constantly requested our family recipes, which sparked the idea for The Southern Spoonful. We officially launched our blog in April 2021 and haven’t looked back since!

Why We Cook Clean: Our Health-Focused Mission

What sets The Southern Spoonful apart from other Southern food blogs is our commitment to clean eating without sacrificing the authentic flavors we grew up loving. As home cooks who learned traditional Southern cooking techniques from our New Orleans family, we’ve spent years perfecting the art of making classic Southern comfort food healthier.

We believe that healthy Southern cooking should be accessible to every home cook, whether you’re preparing a quick weeknight dinner or hosting a gathering with family and friends.

From Traditional to Modern: Our Recipe Philosophy

Our extensive collection of Southern recipes ranges from time-honored family dishes passed down through generations to our creative takes on classic and contemporary favorites. Every recipe undergoes multiple rounds of testing to ensure the instructions are crystal clear and the results are consistently delicious.

Our Clean Eating Journey in Dallas

Today, we call Dallas, Texas home, where we continue growing our passion for healthy Southern cooking. Stacey lives in the suburbs with her husband, Bryan, and their two adorable Maltese brothers, Bentley and Cooper. Courtney resides in Dallas with her Labrador Retriever rescue, Diesel.

Living in Dallas has allowed us to blend our Southern roots with modern healthy living. We even grow some of our vegetables and herbs, ensuring the freshest ingredients are in our recipes and on your table. Our Texas homes have become places where we love to practice what we preach – hosting friends and family with the same warmth and hospitality we learned in New Orleans, but with a focus on clean, nourishing ingredients that make everyone feel their best.

The best meals are shared ones; we’re here to help you create those special moments around your table. Whether you’re hosting your first dinner party or planning a large family reunion, we’ll share the tips, tricks, and recipes that make Southern entertaining feel effortless and elegant.
