Growing up in the South, we had easy access to fresh seafood. Our quick and easy Tuna Burger recipe makes it easy for anyone to enjoy a delicious seafood entrée in no time!
We add a hint of homemade Healthy Cajun Seasoning to give the burgers the slightest kick. Add Brioche Buns and fresh greens, and you will have the perfect pescatarian lunch or dinner.
Ingredients You Will Need
- Canned Tuna: We use Safe Catch Wild Ahi Yellowfin Tuna, but any canned Tuna will work.
- Green Onions
- Panko Breadcrumbs
- Mayonnaise: We like to use Avocado Oil Mayonnaise.
- Lemon Juice: You can use fresh or bottled Lemon juice.
- Cajun Seasoning: We make our own Healthy Cajun Seasoning, but you can use any Cajun seasoning you prefer.
- Brioche Rolls (optional): You can enjoy your Tuna Burger without bread, but we love enjoying them on a Brioche Roll.
How to Make a Tuna Burger
- First, spoon out your Tuna in a large bowl. (Please read the directions on your can to determine if your Tuna needs to be drained.)
- Next, add all of your other ingredients except your Green Onions. Mix well until the contents are well blended.
- After, add your sliced Green Onions and stir well.
- Construct your burgers using an Egg Ring or by hand.
- (Optional): Refrigerate for an hour to help the burgers maintain their shape.
- Cooking Methods: Stovetop or Grill
- Stovetop: Spray a nonstick skillet with your favorite nonstick spray. Place your Tuna Burgers in the pan. Heat on medium-high, flipping every 4 – 5 minutes until your desired brownness is achieved. Remove from heat.
- Grill: Spray a grill-safe pan or Cast Iron skillet with your favorite nonstick spray. Place your Tuna Burgers in the pan or on the skillet. Heat on medium-high, flipping every 4 – 5 minutes until your desired brownness is achieved. Remove from heat.
- (Optional): Place your Tuna Burgers on Brioche Rolls. Add 1 teaspoon of Mayonnaise to each roll, and add your favorite toppings. Serve immediately.
Tuna Burger Toppings
- Avocado Slices
- Pepper Jack Cheese
- Lettuce
- Spinach Leaves
- Spicy Mayonnaise – We like Sir Kensington’s Chipotle Mayonnaise
Tools to Help You Make Tuna Burgers
Egg Rings – We use these molds to make the perfect-sized burgers. You can also use them to make eggs for breakfast sandwiches too.
Cast Iron Griddle – We always use this Cast Iron Griddle on the grill and stovetop. It helps cook the burgers perfectly.
